About Me

I'm a certified PMP with more than 15 years’ experience managing the delivery of successful programs, projects, and products primarily in the realm of Web and mobile technologies. A librarian and project manager by trade and a Web developer by practice, I'll admit my background is a bit unconventional, and I have taken a unique route to get where I am today.

I decided on my career when I was 15 years old, while studying the works of Octavio Paz. I learned that he was not only a writer but a diplomat, and informed my mom that THAT was what I wanted to do. She soon had visions of her younger daughter as the next Madeleine Albright, but what I was envisioning was more of a framework: No matter what, I was determined that I was going to do something creative with my life and make a difference in the world. Since then, every professional growth opportunity has been a fulfillment of that ambition in some way, and every role I’ve taken has enhanced and made use of my talents and skills.

After earning an MS in Library Science, I worked as a public librarian for a little over five years, where I held roles focused on readers' advisory, reference, collection development, adult programming and outreach, and finally Web development and Web services. This is where I began my work as a project manager and program manager, implementing online programs and services to engage and inform an audience of more than 20,000 daily virtual visitors.

In 2013, I returned to my alma mater as an employee, and I held a series of IT roles as a Web developer, a Web project manager, and finally a Web technology manager of mobile strategy. During this time, I earned my PMP and DASM certifications, took several leveling courses in math and computer science (in preparation for pursuing a graduate-level degree in computer science, which I ultimately decided against), and even worked as a part-time lecturer for a sophomore-level course on Web application development.

As a mobile strategy manager, I served both as a program manager for mobile technology programs and a product manager for the university's award-winning mobile app, UH Go, for which I oversaw 14 iterative product releases. During the Covid pandemic, from mid-March 2020 through mid-June 2021, I managed the delivery of about 16 new features, functions, and services for UH Go. As we delivered new features to help our users adapt to the "new normal", we also saw a 2.78% average month-over-month increase in engagement (views per session). One of the priority tasks I was charged with in this role was to simplify the number of apps for the university and, under my tenure, that number decreased from 26 to 11.

I've continued to work effectively as a part of a distributed workforce since joining Dell Technologies as a Senior Project Manager in September 2021. While focusing on driving CX improvements, I have had the opportunity to build relationships with many SMEs and business owners across areas in sales, marketing, product management, and website management. From March 2022 through February 2023, I provided project management expertise by leading a product strategy workstream under a major global initiative to de-segment the e-commerce website in 25 countries, where I collaborated with leaders in various business units.
